Our parents decided to sell their house and move down south before discussing it with us kids. We all realize that they can make their own decisions but they were doing it so quickly, that we did not think they were thinking it through. They hired a Raleigh packing company and had already set the moving date before telling us that they sold the house that we grew up in. I am not sure that we would have even found out before the big move day, had it not been for my friend who works for the Raleigh packing company saying something about it.

I contacted both of my sisters, as soon as I heard from my local moving company buddy that my parents had set up a date to move. I think that they were both as stunned as me but we tried to remain calm before confronting them. I did not want them to know that my local moving company buddy had told me about the move, so I just told them that I heard it from one of their neighbors.

In the end, we were happy that our parents were moving to somewhere they had always wanted to live but we would be sad to not have them be so close to us and their grandchildren. This just gave us an excuse to go down and see them all the time.
